Shinkichi Takahashi was born on January 28, 1901 in Ehime Prefecture, Japan.
Attended Yawatahama Middle School. He studied at a Buddhist temple in his native place (1921) and then began studying poetry.
His first anthology titled Makuwauri (Muskmelon) brought him into contact with such well-known poets as Haruo Sato, Jun Tsuji and Renkichi Hirado. His subsequent work titled "Collection of Poems " was well received by poetical and literary circles. Among his works are "Gion Festival", "Solar Eclipse", "Rain Cloud" and "Mount Kirishima." Has also written some novels and essays such as "Dada", "Madman" and "Collection of Follies".
