He was educated at and played for Narashino High School.
He was a centre back. After graduating in 1983, he joined Japan Soccer League side Sumitomo Metals When Japan"s first-ever professional league J. League Division 1 started in 1993, Sumitomo Metals was transformed to Kashima Antlers for whom he continued to play. He moved to Kyoto Purple Sanga in 1996 and played there for one season before retiring from the game.
After his playing career, he became the owner of an izakaya (Japanese public).
He now works as a soccer commentator and personality on a local radio station, and Director of the Kashima Heights Sports Plaza.
After the end of the inaugural season, he was chosen as a member of the 1993 J-League Team of the Year. He was never capped for Japan although he played two practice matches against Real Betis and Xerez Civil Defense in Spain in September 1993 as a member of the Japan team
