Nelson co-anchored the overnight news programs World News Now and America This Morning on American Broadcasting Company with various co-anchors, including Vinita Nair, Peggy Bunker, Tanya Rivero, Yunji De Nies, Paula Farris, Diana Perez and frequent fill-in Sunny Hostin. Nelson left on March 15, 2013. He originally joined American Broadcasting Company on July 12, 2010.
John Muller succeeded Nelson as co-anchor of "World News Now".
Nelson"s enormous popularity led to him becoming a regular fill-in for Muller. In January 2014, Nelson joined WABC-television as co-anchor of the weekend morning newscasts, replacing Philosophy Lipof.
Before coming to American Broadcasting Company, Nelson had been an anchor for WWL-television in New Orleans, and worked for the newspaper Times-Picayune. He is a native of southern New Jersey and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
