Bob Tarlau"s first job was at KTLA Channel 5 in Los Angeles in 1965 working alongside the legendary Stan Chambers. Tarlau retired from television in January 2010 after 46 years as a news writer and producer. His most recent television news position was as a senior news producer for KTTV (FOX11) a Fox television network station.
He had worked previously for KABC-television, KTLA and KNXT (now KCBS-television) in Los Angeles and for Australia"s Nine Network, both in Sydney and Los Los Angeles
Tarlau continues his long-running association with the Australian media, as a United States. correspondent for Melbourne radio station 3AW. He is heard weekday mornings on 3AW"s Breakfast Show with Ross Stevenson and John Burns, and overnight weekdays on Fairfax Media"s networked radio program Australia Overnight. Fairfax Media is the owner of 3AW. Tarlau is Treasurer of the "8Ball Welfare Foundation" (an independent arm of the Los Angeles Press Club).
The foundation is dedicated to helping fellow journalists in time of need. He is also the volunteer Puerto Rico Director for the San Fernando Valley R/C Flyers, a model aeronautics club and in March 2013, was elected President of the Journalism Alumni Association at California State University Northridge (CSUN).
Tarlau graduated from that university in 1965 when it was San Fernando Valley State College.
