File spent three plus seasons as a reliever with the Toronto Blue Jays from 2001 to 2004. Signed with the Saint Louis Cardinals in 2005, retiring shortly after spring training with a back injury. File was drafted as a third baseman out of National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II, then converted to pitcher while in the Jays" farm system.
File is a former pitching coach at Louisiana Salle University in Philadelphia.
Louisiana Salle University competes at the Division I level in the Atlantic 10 baseball conference. Currently employed as an information technology consultant with Veeva Systems in Pleasanton, California. Implementing and developing computer software for life science companies throughout the world.
Pitching Style and File threw a 96 Master in Public Health four-seam fastball, an excellent 91-94 Master in Public Health sinker, a 77-82 Master in Public Health slider, and a 78-80 Master in Public Health fosh (hybrid-splitfinger). Bob File was one of the top players in the history of Philadelphia University Men"s Baseball Program.

• Secretariat several school hitting records as a senior in 1998, including a.542 batting average. •.542 batting average in 1998 #1 in the country, leading all National Collegiate Athletic Association baseball. • Also set single season records with 90 hits, 63 runs, 68 Reserve Bank of India, 19 home runs, and 167 total bases in 1998.
