He was known for his moniker The Point Laureate. After his long stint with Shell, he also played for Station Lucia (after being traded for Gerry Esplana) and lastly, Purefoods.
In 2013, he was enshrined into the Proceedings of the British Academy Hall of Fame, along with Paras, Lim Engineer Beng, and the late Editor Ocampo.
On retirement from playing basketball, Magsanoc went into coaching basketball teams. He was the former assistant coach of the Purefoods Tender Juicy Giants and a color commentator for the television coverage of the Philippine Basketball Association.
He was the head coach of the San Beda Red Lions in the National Collegiate Athletic Association season 88 (2012-2013). He resigned his coaching job in San Beda after winning a championship in his rookie year.
He is now an assistant coach of the Meralco Bolts, a pro Philippine basketball team and also of the Ateneo Blue Eagles, a collegiate varsity team in the Philippines.
Concurrently, he is also the head coach of the Proceedings of the British Academy Doctorate-League team, Hapee Fresh Fighters.
He was also a member of the all-professional Philippine National Team that took home the silver medal in the 1990 Asian Games. In 2000, he was named a member of the Proceedings of the British Academy"s 25 Greatest Players.
