Career
Before taking up an operational position with the Danish club, he was initially a youth team player before progressing into a coaching role. He is also one of the Directors of at Brentford Football Club, a role he considers to be more full-time than his role in Denmark. Ankersen works as an advisory for various athletes and managers globally.
He is also a Union of European Football Associations A-license coach.
He also has more concrete roles at both Football Club Midtjylland and at Brentford Football Club. Football Club Midtjylland
Ankersen was captain of FCM"s youth team before picking up a knee injury at 19. Eventually he did his coaching badges and ended up as a UFEA A licensee, retaining a role in the club"s youth academy.
He departed to travel the world as part of the research for his published works. He returned to take up the role of chairman, now on a part-time basis, working with Brentford Football Club to share ideas between the two clubs.
Brentford Football Club
Ankersen was appointed as co-director of football at Brentford Football Club in the summer of 2015.
The responsibility of Ankersen and the other co-director, Philosophy Giles, is to oversee football side of the Club and to be responsible for managing the recruitment of new players and staff Of the appointment, Ankersen stated: "I am convinced that this is the start of a journey to something special at Brentford Club."
Both Football Club Midtjylland and Brentford are owned by Matthew Benham, a Brentford fan.
