Career
Early years
A wing half, Davies began his career in non-league football with local side Sutton Town. Portsmouth
Davies began his league career at Division Three South side Portsmouth, captaining the side which rose from the basement to Division One in four seasons. He departed Fratton Park in the summer of 1927, after making over 200 league appearances for Pompey.
Brentford
Aged almost 30, Davies dropped back down to the Division Three South to sign for Brentford in the summer of 1927 for a £250 fee.
Davies left the Bees in the summer of 1932, having made 123 appearances for the club Mansfield Town
Davies returned to his native Derbyshire and saw out his career with a spell at Division Three North side Mansfield Town.
