Career
He is also a former American football player who played college football for Louisiana State University and University of Tennessee. During his two years at Louisiana State University (2001 Redshirt and 2002) he played in three games, starting the 2002 game against Ole Mississippi At the end of the 2002 season, he transferred to Tennessee, where he walked on to the football team as a backup quarterback, sitting out the 2003 season under the National Collegiate Athletic Association transfer rules.
Before coming to Tennessee, Rick Clausen played for the Louisiana State University Tigers of Baton Rouge.
Upon his return to Tiger stadium in 2005, this time in a Volunteer uniform, Clausen and the Vols down 21-0 at half triumphed to defeat Louisiana State University at home 30-27. Clausen went undrafted in the 2005 NFL Draft.
