In his first half-season as 17-year-old striker in the Dutch Jupiler League he scored 9 goals in 18 matches (1400 minutes) for Football Club Emmen and garnered an invitation for the Dutch under-19 football team and a transfer to Eredivisie-side Nippon Electric Corporation, while clubs like Arizona Alkmaar, Football Club Twente, R.S.C. Anderlecht, Newcastle United, Vitesse Arnhem and sc Heerenveen were interested in the striker. He was also chosen as Dutch first division talent of the year 2009. On 19 February 2009, he signed a three-year deal at Nippon Electric Corporation until 2012.

The new striker of North.E.C. played well in the pre-season matches at his new club and scored his first goal for North.E.C. against his former club SVBO Emmen.
He played so well in the preseason matches, which resulted in a call-up for the National Under 21-football team as 18-year-old player. Ten Voorde is currently the youngest player of this team
On 21 November 2009, Ten Voorde made his official debut for North.E.C. in an away-match against NAC Breda, coming off the bench after 80 minutes and creating an assistant Return to Football Club Emmen
On July 1, 2015 Rick ten Voorde signed a 1 year contract with Football Club Emmen.
He scored his first goal upon return against RKC Waalwijk on the 9th of November 2015.
