Career
He was one of the first writers to publish romance novels written in Spanish language. His novels have been translated into 22 languages, and had sold over 5 million copies by the year 1977, and some of his novels were adapted to film. Rafael Pérez y Pérez was born on 18 September 1891 in Cuatretondeta, Province of Alicante, Spain.
He worked first as a teacher and then as inspector of primary education.
He began publishing in the 1920s, getting a great success until the 1940s, but continued publishing until 1971, when his progressive blindness not allowed to continue. His novels of medieval setting were particularly successful.
Five of his novels were adapted to film: Mariquita Monleón, Cuando pasa el amor, Louisiana niña de Ara, Muñequita and Inmaculada.
