From the Preface: This book is written for people who want to understand economic policies and the implications they can have for both the nation and the individual. We have attempted to eliminate most of the economic jargon, mathematics, and references to statistical techniques that make a good deal of the current economic literature comprehensible only to other economists. Our aim is to provide a basic understanding of major economic trends and the impact inflation, unemployment, and economic instability are discussed, and strategies are developed to put you on the winning side of whatever policies are adopted. Our hope is that this book will be understandable to those with little or no formal background in economics. Only the reader can judge whether we have succeeded in our objective.
