After working for the South Australian Government from 1998 to 2000 and the state Agent-General in London from 2000 to 2002, he held a variety of roles in high profile law and accounting firms. On a 1.89 percent margin, Hindmarsh became the most marginal seat in South Australia and was the only seat in South Australia to change hands at the 2013 election. Williams is only the third non-Labor Member of Parliament in Hindmarsh"s history, and the first to unseat a Labor incumbent.
