Career
Not to be confused with Moishe "Maurice" Finkel, a late 19th-century Yiddish theater performer. Born in Bessarabia, Russian Empire, Finkel immigrated to the United States as a child and became involved with Yiddish theater in New York City. He received an architecture degree from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in Manhattan, New York in 1913.
Finkel began his architecture career in Detroit, Michigan in 1915.
He designed more than 200 structures, from apartment buildings and homes, to a great variety of commercial and entertainment buildings. Each of these buildings is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
