Career
She was well respected in the field of postcolonial foreign charity activities in India. Kataki was born in Paris, and moved to Pune in 1970, being attracted to the spiritual aspects of Indian culture. She became an Indian in 1976.
She taught at university level, in slums and also in a village where she founded the Samarpan Ashram in 1983.
