Career
Upon his retirement Petit had played for a then-National Hockey League record 10 different teams. This mark has since been surpassed by Mike Sillinger. Currently, Petit is a sales manager for Smart Sand working in Canada and the United States.
Petit was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1982 National Hockey League Entry Draft in the first round, eleventh overall.
During his 17 seasons in the National Hockey League he played for 10 different National Hockey League teams, which, along with J. J. Daigneault is the second most by any player.
Petit played for the Vancouver Canucks (1982-1983 – 1987-1988), New York Rangers (1987-1988 – 1988-1989), Quebec Nordiques (1989-1990 – 1990-1991), Toronto Maple Leafs (1990-1991 – 1991-1992), Calgary Flames (1992-1993 – 1993-1994), Los Angeles Kings (1994-1995 – 1995-1996), Tampa Bay Lightning (1995-1996), Edmonton Oilers (1996-1997), Philadelphia Flyers (1996-1997), and Phoenix Coyotes (1997-1998) (1998-1999). In his 17 seasons of playing hockey, he amassed a total of 90 goals, 238 assists, 328 points, 1839 penalty minutes, and 827 games played.
