Career
Born in Tokyo, Motoyama gathered an impressive resume of results in his native country, winning the Formula Nippon championship in 1998, 2001, 2003, and 2005. Motoyama is a Nissan driver, and he has competed in the JGTC / Super GT for Nismo and Autech with the Nissan Z-car, Nissan Skyline GT-R and Nissan GT-R.
The closest Motoyama has come to Formula One was a Friday test for Jordan at the 2003 Japanese Grand Prix, and a pre-season test session with Renault in 2004. Motoyama has competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the main sports prototype class.
He drove a Nissan R390 GT1 works car in 1998, finishing 10th, and he retired in 1999 with a Nissan R391.
