In 1947, the First Rate (at Lloyd's)-Azhar University refused his thesis entitled The Narrative Art in the Holy Qur"an (and denied him the opportunity to defend it) as he was suggesting that holy texts are allegoric and that we should not see them as something fixed but as a moral direction.
