He wrote and acted in Ee Adutha Kaalathu and Left Right Left, which are considered path breakers in their respective genres. Murali Gopy made his debut as an actor and screen writer in the Lal Jose movie Rasikan (2004). He also sung the song Chaanju nikkana in this movie.
His second movie was Blessy"s Bhramaram in which he played the role of Alex Varghese, a self-centred doctor.

As a journalist, he has worked as sub-editor and reporter for The Indian Express, sub-editor and features editor for The Hindu, chief sub-editor with Arab-Allied Media, Dubai, for the sports magazines Cleanbowled and Sports Today and as chief editor of Master of Science in Nursing India Entertainment (India Syndicate).
