He enrolled at the Åbo Akademi in 1949 and studied physics, graduating as a Doctor of Philosophy in 1963. He also studied theoretical physics for two years at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Master of Arts, United States of America.
He worked in many places, including the University of Helsinki.
