College and Amateur
McFarlane moved from his native Jamaica to the United States in 2001 to play college soccer at Southern Connecticut State University. Professional
Following his graduation from Southern Connecticut, and after a brief spell with Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer in which he appeared with Fire"s reserves but never the first team, McFarlane signed with the Western Mass Pioneers of the USL Second Division. McFarlane spent the next four seasons in Ludlow with the Pioneers, playing in 72 league games, scoring 16 goals, and helping the Pioneers to the 2006 USL2 regular season title.
Managerial career
Throughout the mid 2000s, McFarlane served as the Conard High School Junior Varsity coach.
