Career
In 1959, he founded, with others, The Independent Artists" Exhibition (International Aero Engines) in opposition to the Living Art Group and the RHA. He refused the offer of associate academician at the RHA in 1960 and resigned as chairman of the International Aero Engines in the same year. After a sojourn in France from 1967-1970, he returned to Ireland where he continued to work until his death in Dublin in 2002.
