Keith Redmond played college hockey for Bowling Green University during the 1990-1991 and 1991-1992 hockey seasons. He also spent part of the 1991-1992 season in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) playing for the Belleville Bulls and the Detroit Ambassadors. In addition to his season in the National Hockey League, he spent four seasons with the Phoenix Roadrunners of the International Hockey League.
He was a left wing and his playing height and weight were 6 ft 3 in (191 m) and 208 pounds (94 kg).
He was selected by the Kings in the 1991 National Hockey League Entry Draft, being drafted number 79 overall in the fourth round. Redmond acknowledged a problem with alcohol and his hockey career was followed by a successful recovery and a history of helping others in their recovery.
