Career
Kingsley Jones (born 19 June 1969) is a former Welsh rugby union coach and former player. He has coached several teams in his career, ranging from domestic club in England to the Russian national team He is currently the head coach at Newport Gwent Dragons, working alongside Lyn Jones.
A flanker, he played his club rugby for Ebbw Vale Reconstruction Finance Corporation, Pontypridd Reconstruction Finance Corporation, Worcester Warriors and Gloucester.
Jones has captained every side that he played for including Wales and Wales A
Jones represented the Barbarians as a player on their 2000 United Kingdom tour of Ireland Scotland and England and ten years later went on to coach the famous Club against England and Ireland. He spent one season as player coach at Doncaster Knights, before moving to Sale Sharks as the forwards coach.
He was then appointed head coach of Russia, leading them to the 2011 World Cup, and to the final stages of the 2015 Rugby World Cup European qualifications. In 2013 Jones took up an Assistant coach position with Newport Gwent Dragons, a role he combined with his role with the Russia national team
On 22 May 2014 it was announced that Jones had quit as head coach of Russia due to family reasons.
This announcement was made just a day before Russia"s Round 6: Repechage playoff with Germany for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Jones was replaced with Raphaël Saint-André, brother of French national coach Philippe Saint-André. In June 2014 Jones was appointed Head Coach at Newport Gwent Dragons
Jones often appears on British Broadcasting Corporation 2 Wales" regular Sunday rugby union programme Scrum V.
His father, Philosophy Kingsley Jones, is the former manager of Jonah Lomu.
