Carter is originally from Bingley, West Yorkshire. She has appeared in The Royal Today, Emmerdale, award-winning Channel 4 drama Red Riding, British Broadcasting Corporation series Casualty and British Broadcasting Corporation drama by Kay Mellor. She could also be seen on the Clean & Clear idents for E4 show 90210.
She appears as one of the main cast in E4"s Young, Free & Single.
Carter lived in London with fiancé Anthony Lewis until their engagement ended in 2014.
