Dey went up to the University of Sydney in 1922 from whence he graduated Bachelor of Medicine in 1910 and Ch.M. in 1912. In 1917 Dey became an honorary medical officer at Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children. Commander of the Order of the British Empire (Civil).
He was a member of the council of the Australian Branch of the British Medical Association from 1926 until 1946 and served as President in 1937-1938.
