He attended Calf Pen Meadow Elementary School, East Shore Middle School, and Joseph A. Foran High School. Originally Beirne wanted to be a doctor, but when he enrolled at Fairfield University he studied finance at the Dolan School of Business. In 2005, he graduated summa cum laude and first in his class, with a Bachelor of Science degree.
He is the youngest of four siblings. Beirne was a Fulbright Scholar at Queen"s University in Kingston, Ontario. After taking the Law School Admission Test, Beirne was accepted to Harvard University, Columbia University, New York University, and Yale University.
He earned his law degree from Yale Law School and attended as an Olin Scholar.
He studied international business transactions under the direction of Amy Chua, who is known for her memoir, Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother. Beirne graduated in 2008.
He received the Edgar M. Cullen Prize for his constitutional scholarship. In 2009, he was admitted to both the New York and Connecticut bars.
After graduating from Queen"s University, Beirne worked for "the private equity arm of General Electric Capital".
While Beirne was still attending law school, he was a summer associate at the law firm Sullivan and Cromwell. He worked as an investment banker at Justice of the Peace Morgan & Company for a period of time. Beirne was on the board of directors for the charities, Uniondocs and Starting Artists.
He is the Chief Executive Officer of Matterhorn Transactions.
He is Fellow at the Yale Law School Information Society Project. His first book, Blood of Tyrants: George Washington, the Forging of the Presidency, began as his thesis at Yale Law School.
While doing research for the book, he found letters written by Washington in his (Beirne"s) ancestors" house. Beirne has appeared on Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Network, Fox News, and American Broadcasting Company News.
He has written for The Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal, United States of America Today, Reuters, The New York Post, The Daily News, and The Washington Times.
