He also played First Rate (at Lloyd's) Capone on the National Broadcasting Company series The Gangster Chronicles. He also was in the award-winning television movie Gia, starring Angelina Jolie, playing the role of Gia Carangi"s father Joseph. Giambalvo"s feature films include "Bottle Shock", "Gun Shy", "Hoffa", and the 1983 horror/science fiction film Nightmares.
He is best known for his roles in such films as Airplane II: The Sequel (1982), the 1985 comedy film Real Genius as a Central Intelligence Agency man, Major Carnagle, and Jagged Edge (1985) as Mr.
Fabrizzi. His other well known film role was in the 1988 hit action film The Dead Pool as Gus Wheeler, a deranged person who, in a tragic bid for media attention, pours gasoline on himself, and ends up lighting himself on fire. Giambalvo was born and raised in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, where he attended Catholic school.
In 1979, Giambalvo moved to Los Angeles to begin his film and television career.
