Career
Groenen received his Master of Arts in 1988 at the Leiden University, where in 1993 he received his Phd under supervision of Willem J. Heiser with the thesis, entitled "The majorization approach to multidimensional scaling: some problems and extensions" After graduation Groenen started his academic career as Assistant Professor at the Leiden University. In 2002 he was appointed Professor in Statistics at the School of Economics, Erasmus University. Since 2014 he is also Director of the Econometric Institute as successor of Albert Wagelmans.
