Career
He made 265 appearances and scored 85 goals in all competitions for Croydon Common before and during the First World War. Born in Newcastle, Barnfather joined Barnsley in 1903 from a minor team in Wallsend and made 27 appearances in The Football League, scoring three goals. In 1904 he joined New Brompton of the Southern League, where he played for two seasons.
He later played for Croydon Common and Norwich City.
