Career
He died of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome in San Francisco, California. He moved to San Francisco in 1960. They finished first and second in total masterpoints earned during the calendar year, recognized by the annual McKenney Trophy.
Pender was inducted into the ACBL Hall of Fame in 1998.
