Career
He sat in the House of Commons from 1918 to 1922, and from 1924 until his death. He was defeated at the 1922 general election by the Labour Party candidate Manny Shinwell. Kidd stood again in 1923, without success, but defeated Shinwell at the 1924 general election and held the seat until his death in 1928, aged nearly 56.
He also served briefly as an Under-Secretary of State for Scotland with responsibility for health.
