Jackson, Nagle was born on April 28, 1936 in Seattle, Washington, United States. Son of Paul Joseph and Gertrude (Dunn) Jackson.

Bachelor, Whitman College, 1958; Doctor of Letters (honorary), Whitman College, 1995.

Career

Resident director American Conservatory Theatre, San Francisco, 1967-1970. Artistic director Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, 1970-1976, McCarter Theatre, Princeton, New Jersey, 1979-1990. Stage director New Jersey Opera Festival, Lawrenceville, 1985-1991.

Currently associate artist Denver Center Theatre Company, 1992—2005. Principal director Shakespeare in Santa Fe. Guest director Gorky Theatre, Leningrad, 1988, Trøndelag Teatre, Trondheim, Norway, 1990.
