Career
He was Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana, from 1850 to 1853 serving under Governor Joseph M. Walker. In the Battle of New Orleans, Major Plauché headed the Battalion of Orleans (New Orleans city) uniformed militia. At the time (December 1814 – early January 1815), he was just twenty-nine years old.
Camp Plauché, a troop staging area near Harahan, Louisiana, during World World War II, was named in his honor.
