Jeff Mason is an American professional ice hockey defenseman for the Belfast Giants of the Elite Ice Hockey League.
Education
The next season he signed with the Long Beach Ice Dogs and was the team"s highest scoring defenceman, scoring 11 goals and 31 assists for 42 points in what was a difficult season for the Ice Dogs as they finished bottom of the Pacific Division.
Career
After four years in Providence College, Mason began his professional hockey career with Hermes in the Finnish second division before returning to North America and signing with the ECHL"s Augusta Lynx in 2005. Mason then spent the next two seasons playing for the Gwinnett Gladiators. In his second season in 2008-2009, Mason scored 14 goals and 22 assists for 36 points and was the teams top scoring defenceman.
In 2009-2010, Mason split the season with the Kalamazoo Wings and in the German 2nd Bundesliga for the Heilbronner Falken.
In 2010, Mason signed with the Belfast Giants. In 2011-2012 Mason led the EIHL in Defenseman scoring with 21 goals and 44 assists for 65 points.
Mason earned a First Team All-Star selection as well as being named the Most Valuable Player Defenseman for the EIHL. In 2014-2015 Mason tied for the team goal scoring lead amongst defenseman with 7 and was also voted the teams Best Defensman. The 2015-2016 season will be his 6th with the Giants.
