He played for the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Mets from 1986–1990. Musselman is a Central Regional High School and Harvard graduate. 1987 Topps All Star Rookie
On July 31, 1989, he was traded by the Toronto Blue Jays with minor leaguer Mike Brady to the New York Mets for Mookie Wilson.
Musselman retired from pitching, but not from baseball.
He is currently a vice-president in the offices of sports agent Scott Boras.
