Career
Over more than 30 years, from the 1960s through to the 1980s, Jo Röpcke was popular, especially in the Flanders and The Netherlands, as the television host of the film magazine, ", at the Belgian state television BRT, the former VRT (the publicly funded broadcaster of Flanders at the northern part of Belgium). With Röpcke, became more than an ordinary promo-program sponsored by film distributors, as Röpcke used a dry but charming presentation style with critical, and sometimes funny and slightly ironical side remarks. Röpcke gained international respect as an eminent filmjournalist and critic.
Researcher at the Université libre de Bruxelles (Free University of Brussels), the French Free University of Brussels between 1953 and 1958 and at the R.U.G. University of Ghent from 1958 until 1962.
