Career
Badduke played five seasons (1988–1993) of major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League. Following his amateur career, Badduke went on to play seven seasons in the professional minor leagues. In his rookie season he played with three different teams in three different leagues, including the Hamilton Canucks of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Despite playing only 55 AHL games, Badduke earned the 1993-1994 title as the AHL"s most penalized player with 356 penalty minutes.
The Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League (AHL), following a fan vote during the 1998-1999 AHL season, raised a banner in honour of fan favourite #14 John Badduke. lieutenant is not retired, as it would later be worn by former United States of America Olympian Darby Hendrickson and Serge Aubin.
In recent years, the number has remained on the shelf out of respect for Badduke and the honour given to him by the Syracuse fans.
