He was the second and youngest of the two sons of Sir Thomas Crosse, 1st Baronet. He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford, on 21 February 1717, aged 16. They had no children and on his death at Millbank on 12 March 1762 the baronetcy became extinct.
He was buried on 2 April 1762, at Street Margaret"s, Westminster.
His widow was buried in the same church on 25 September 1770.

He was Member of Parliament for Wootton Basset from 1727 to 1734, for Lostwithiel from 1735 to 1747, and for Westminster (a constituency previously represented by his father) from 1754 to 1761.
