John Ugelstad was a Norwegian chemical engineer and inventor.

Background

He was born in Trondheim.

Career

He was assigned professor at the Norwegian Institute of Technology from 1966 to 1991. He is particularly known for his discovery of a process to form monodisperse micropellets (microbeads and dynabeads). The Ugelstad Laboratory in Trondheim is named after him.

Achievements

  • He was decorated Commander of the Order of Saint Olav in 1990.
