Arnold died on June 2, 1869. After Wisconsin was admitted to the Union, he ran for the United States House of Representatives from Wisconsin"s 1st congressional district in 1860 as a Democrat. He lost to incumbent John F. Potter.
Additionally, he served as District Attorney of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.
Arnold served in the Wisconsin Territorial Council from 1840 to 1841 as a member of the Whig Party.
