In February 1990, Galkin moved to Tucson, Arizona where he filmed the Nickelodeon television Show Hey Dude. When the show ended in 1991, he attended New York University from 1991-1994. From 1994-2001, he worked as a special events producer, talent buyer and manager at New York City firm Empire Entertainment.

He continues to head the label, home to the artists liquid crystal display Soundsystem, The Rapture, Hot Chip, Hercules & Love Affair, Black Dice, The Juan Maclean, YACHT, Factory Floor, Sinkane, Holy Ghost! and more. Galkin is married to Sara Galkin and has 3 children, Noah, Ella & Simon.
