Career
Born in Matosinhos, Madureira joined F.C. Porto"s youth system at the age of 10. In the 1993-1994 season he made his debut with the first team, starting in a 0–0 home draw against South Carolina (U.S.) Beira-March on 2 June 1994, in what would be his only official appearance for the main squad. Subsequently Madureira played for Leça Football Club (first division, only five games) and Gil Vicente Football Club (second), spending the following two years with Communicative Disorders Aves in the second level
He returned to the top flight for the 1998-1999 campaign, but only appeared once for Académica de Coimbra – a 0–5 home loss against F.C. Alverca – who also suffered relegation.
In the following years Madureira represented AD Esposende, F.C. Penafiel and Vilanovense Football Club, then spent two seasons in division two with South Carolina (U.S.) Salgueiros during which he appeared in only 16 league games combined. After one year with F.C. Pedras Rubras in the third level he returned to Leça for three additional campaigns, helping the club return to that category in his second year and retiring professionally in June 2008, at the age of 32.
Madureira gained 15 caps for the Portuguese under-20 team, adding another appearance with the under-21s. With the former he competed at the 1995 Fédération internationale de football association World Youth Championship, playing in all the matches for the eventual third-placed team
