Career
Joe Anderson founded JT Anderson Transport Limited of Gateforth, Selby. His funeral took place at Holy Cross Church, Fryston Road, Airedale, Castleford, at 2pm on Thursday 8 January 2015, with a service at Pontefract Crematorium at 2.45pm, followed by refreshments at The Carleton Hotel, Pontefract. Challenge Cup final appearances
Joe Anderson played Left-prop, id est (that is) number 8, in Leeds" 9-7 victory over Barrow in the 1957 Challenge Cup final during the 1956-1957 season at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday 11 May 1957.
Club career
Joe Anderson was transferred from Castleford to Leeds on Monday 10 January 1955 for £1700 (based on increases in average earnings, this would be approximately £96,810 in 2013), plus Alan Horsfall in part-exchange, and made his début for Leeds against Featherstone Rovers at Headingley Stadium on Saturday 15 January 1955.
Anderson died of kidney cancer on 20 December 2014. Joe Anderson"s marriage to Marjorie Turton was registered during July→September 1954 in Pontefract district.
