Sheffield Wednesday
Wildsmith signed a two and a half year professional contract with Sheffield Wednesday in November 2013 after impressing with the club"s youth teams. Then into the 2015-2016 season Wildsmith made further cup starts against Premier League giants Newcastle United and Arsenal, claiming clean sheets and wins over both teams. = Barnsley (loan) In March 2015 he signed for Barnsley on an emergency one-month loan deal, making his professional debut on 28 March against Bristol City.
In August 2015, Wildsmith signed a new 2 year contract keeping him at Sheffield Wednesday until the summer of 2017.
He returned to Sheffield Wednesday after 2 appearances for Barnsley. He broke into the first-team under new manager Carlos Carvahal, as Keiran Westwood was injured and Chris Kirkland had left for Preston North End.
On 27 October 2015, he started and played the full 90 minutes in the 3-0 League Cup victory over Arsenal. The game was played in front of a near capacity 35,065 people.
Wildsmith kept a clean sheet allowing Sheffield Wednesday to progress to the Quarter-finals for the first time since 2001.
On 5 November 2015, he was called up into the England U21 national squad.
