Her father Mario immigrated to the United States from Uruguay, when he was just a teenager. Gonzalez graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and journalism. In 2005, Gonzalez started her journalism career at News 12 Networks where she was an anchor and reporter until departing back for Florida to be a reporter and weekend anchor for WPTV-television in West Palm Beach, Florida.
She then went onto WABC-television in New York City to be a reporter in 2011.
She got promoted to national prominence, when she joined American Broadcasting Company News in 2013, and has appeared on various platforms for the network from Good Morning America, American Broadcasting Company World News Tonight, World News Now and America This Morning.
