Due to his low size he emphasized his training on technical elements and is known for his dribbling, agility and passing skills. Although primarily a right-footed defender, he can also play as a midfielder. In July 2010 he signed a four-year contract with the 1.
SNL club Maribor.
In the 2013-2014, he was chosen as the best young football player of the season in the Slovenian PrvaLiga. In June 2014, after four years in Maribor, Milec signed for Belgian top division side Standard Liège. The transfer fee paid by Standard is alleged to be around €1,3 million.
He also played for the Slovenia U21 team
He has been capped three times for the senior squad.
Throughout his career he has been a member of Slovenia youth selections and represented Slovenia U19 at the 2009 Union of European Football Associations Under-19 Championship.
