He performed mostly in the top role, although he did bottom on occasion. In 1990 Gunther moved to West Hollywood at the age of 27 and made his first gay porn film, To The Bone. He appeared in a total of 34 movies.
He was considered by directors to be difficult to work with but was popular with other porn stars.
His last film was Long Play, released in 1995. He contracted Human Immunodeficiency Virus in 1995.
He appeared at the 1996 Probe "Men in Video" Awards as a presenter and rode in an Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome hospice float in that year’s West Hollywood Gay Pride parade. He died in California of heart failure brought on by Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome on May 27, 1997 in Huntington Beach, California after being confined to a wheelchair.
