On 30 July 2012, she reached her best singles ranking of world number 97. On 13 May 2013, she peaked at world number 121 in the doubles rankings. Cohen started tennis at the age of three.
In 2006, she was the top-ranked American girl tennis player.
Cohen played in the 2012 Baku Cup. She made it to the second round after top seed Ksenia Pervak retired.
She eventually made it to her first Women's Tennis Association final there, before losing to fifth-seeded Serbian Bojana Jovanovski. Singles finals: 15 (5–10)
