Career
Born in Montreal on January 24, 1883, he obtained a law degree from McGill University, and was called to the Quebec Bar 21 August 1908. He was made King"s Counsel 27 December 1918, and elected president of the Junior Bar Association of Montreal 1919. Elected Quebec Vice-President of the Canadian Bar Association in 1944.

He was well known in English and American legal circles. Another son, Flight Lieutenant George G. (Kewp) Hyde, Royal Canadian Air Force, was killed on active service in England during the Second World War.
He also had a daughter, Shirley Anne Hyde. George Gordon Hyde died in Montreal on July 20, 1946, at the age of 62.
